Last year, the adidas Pure Boost was one of the best sneakers to debut, but it wasn t something that we would qualify as a running shoe (at least I wouldn t). Not that there weren t runners with Boost of course, but none of them had the style that a sneakerhead was adidas slippers for mens looking for. With Jordan retros sitting on shelves and adidas and Kanye hogging up the spotlight with their Yeezy/Boost releases, many of you feel like 2015 was the year of the Three Stripes. Granted, adidas did have one of the best shoes of the year , and the whole Yeezy line had a hell of an introductory adidas forum year as well, but at the end of they day adidas is still playing second fiddle.2015 may be the year of adidas. But don t get it misconstrued, Jordan Brand is making their moves in silence.

Nike has history on their side. Yeah, brands like adidas have been around longer and Under Armour is doing everything they can to move up the ladder, but for the past 40 something years, the swoosh has owned pop culture. Look back at the images and films that defined the  80s and  90s and more often than not, you will see Nike on the feet of your favorite celebrities and athletes and even yourself. Nostalgia is strong for Nike products and that s why they dominate the adidas 2017 retro game like no other brand and it s also why we hate them when they screw up our classics.

Really, it could have gone either way with the Ultra Boost or the Yeezy Boost taking the runner-up spot. Ultimately, the Ultra Boost s versatility (they re designed for running!) was what put it over the edge. Kanye played a big role in increasing adidas profile in 2015, but it was the Boost that kept them coming back for more (because you know, it s not like most people could buy even one pair of Yeezys let alone two).
